1st Annual Benefit Gospel Show

The Gospel Singing Caravan featuring The Le Fevre Quartet, The Chuck Wagon Gang, The Blackwood Brothers with The Nelons along with special guests Indoor Flood will all be part of the 1st annual Benefit Gospel Show presented By Amanda Corbin Allstate Agency. The show will be held at the Rome City Auditorium on March 18, 2011 at 7 PM.  ALL PROCEEDS BENEFIT THE SOW HOMELESS SHELTER FOR FAMILIES.

SOW Family Homeless Shelter located at 404 S. Broad Street in Rome is the only shelter in our area that accepts children. The shelter is currently housing 6 (six) families. If all tickets to this show are sold, we can feed the families for over a year. The shelter is 100% volunteer and is funded by private donations and fund raisers only. We do use any government funding.

Tickets prices are $15 in Advance, $18 at the Door, VIP tickets $25. All tickets may be purchased at Rome Kroger, Heavens Attic on Martha Berry Blvd, The Palladium, Amanda Corbin Allstate Agency located on Maple Road in Lindale or call 678-986-1441.

Homage Art Exhibit

A guest art exhibit “Homage” will be on display in the Arnold Art Gallery at Shorter University in Rome, Georgia through March 1, 2011. The guest artist is Amalia Amaki and she is a nationally known photo based mixed media artist whose works can be seen in collections at the High Museum and the National Museum for Women in the Arts. She is a professor of art history at the University of Alabama and is a graduate of Georgia State University, The University of New Mexico, and Emory University.

A reception and lecture will be held on March 1, 2011 at 2:30 PM.

Voices from the Trail

Voices from the Trail is an exhibit on display through June 2011 at the Chieftains Museum in Rome, Georgia. Listen to the stories from the Trail as the Cherokee were forced to leave their homeland and travel across the country in terrible conditions. Their words will live on.

Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for senior citizens, $2 for students. Chieftain members are Free. Group discounts are available for 10 or more. Museum hours are Wednesday through Saturday 10 AM to 5 PM. Contact 706-291-9494 for more information.
